Haryana: 3 food supply officials arrested for Rs 1.45 lakh bribe

Chandigarh, Sep 25 (Reporter) Three employees of the Gohana Food Supply Depot in Haryana's Sonipat district have been arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.45 lakh from a rice mill owner, an official said on Wednesday. The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested Depot Assistant Ravinder and, Technical Assistant (Quality Control) Dharmender, both working at the depot, red-handed while taking the bribe on Tuesday evening. The ACB team laid a trap and arrested Ravinder with Rs 50,500 and the accused Dharmendra with Rs 94,500, an official said. In the same case, Depot Manager Nandan Singh was arrested by the ACB team on Wednesday morning. A government spokesperson said on Wednesday that the ACB team received information in which the complainant stated that he runs a rice mill in village Ghiload, district Rohtak, and has been awarded a milling tender for the year 2023-24 from the Haryana State Warehouse Corporation. The complainant stated that he had already supplied 115 truck loads of rice to the Gohana Food Supply Depot but Ravinder and Dharmendra were demanding a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh, threatening to fail the sample of rice supplied by him and raise issues related to weightage.
