Srinagar, Apr 18 (Reporter) Police in Handwara sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday said that it solved a handbag snatching case with the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen gold ornaments.
On April 15, a woman from Waghat Palpora, Magam, filed a complaint at Police Station Handwara, stating that an unidentified person snatched her handbag containing gold ornaments near New Bus Stand Handwara and fled.
Acting swiftly, police registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
“A dedicated team, using technical analysis and other means, identified and apprehended the accused, Basit Fayaz Tantray, a resident of Khonbal Handwara,” a police statement said.
“During questioning, Basit confessed to the crime, and the stolen gold was recovered from his possession,” it added.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain if the accused is involved in any other similar offences...////...
