Shimla, June 4 (Reporter) Expressing strong displeasure over the recent developments following the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s decision to hand over the probe into the suspicious death of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi to the CBI, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday cautioned against casting doubts on Central agencies.
“Raising questions on any Central agency is not healthy for any state. All investigating institutions must be allowed to function independently. Premature allegations before an investigation even begins are deeply concerning,” said the Governor during a media interaction at Raj Bhawan.
His remarks came a day after Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi filed an appeal in the High Court seeking modification of the May 23 order to prefer a High Court-constituted SIT over a CBI investigation, citing potential conflict of interest due to the CBI being under the Union government.
The Governor emphasized that undermining the integrity of Central agencies could erode public trust and institutional autonomy. “Such tendencies could damage the spirit of cooperative federalism,” he said.
In a parallel message and patting Sanjeev Gandhi for his role to contain drug trafficking, the Governor stressed the need to continue the ongoing drive against the rising drug menace in Himachal Pradesh.
“I am working to generate awareness through schools, colleges, universities, and public platforms. We must act now to prevent our youth, especially girls, from falling into the trap of synthetic drugs like chitta and heroin,” he said.
He claimed that he himself in Raj Bhawan was sending appeals to all MLAs urging them to lead anti-drug efforts in their constituencies.
Calling for more women-focused de-addiction centers, Shukla asserted, “I will not stop until every citizen of Himachal Pradesh joins the mission to make the state drug-free...////...
