Lucknow, Jan 27 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav described the arrangements made by the Uttar Pradesh government for the Maha Kumbh as inadequate and said that not even 20 percent of the arrangements that should have been made for the Maha Kumbh were done. On the occasion of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Akhilesh took a holy dip in the Sangam with his son Arjun Yadav on Sunday. He said that he had come here to take a bath under the faith and tradition of the Maha Kumbh. He claimed that not even 20 percent of the arrangements that should have been made for the Maha Kumbh were done. "The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has put up posters of Ministers instead of Pujya Shankaracharya and other prominent saints. Faith should not be tampered with," he said. The SP Chief said, "We remember that when the SP was in power, we got the opportunity to organise the Maha Kumbh. Our government and the departments concerned organised the Maha Kumbh festival in a better way with minimum resources. The work done during that Maha Kumbh was also studied by a team from Harvard University." He said that the centre should give more money to the UP government for public facilities so that the arrangements for the Maha Kumbh festival are better. "The elderly are not required to bring luggage from far away. There should be more facilities for all the devotees and saints," he said. He said that the fort located in the Kumbh area should be given to UP by the central government. "Akshaya Vat is also here," he said. Akhilesh said that the Maha Kumbh comes once in 144 years, that too on the banks of the Sangam, meaning once in a lifetime, and that too at the meeting point of the rivers, that is why we should take a resolution from this that the life we have got can find its true meaning and significance only by the meeting of the streams coming from different directions. Like the Sangam, we should give a positive message of harmony throughout our lives. Whenever the confluence of the Triveni of harmony, cordiality, and tolerance will happen within a person, then we will all experience the Maha Kumbh," he said. He said that he took a dip in the Sangam to pay obeisance to Maa Triveni, a dip for self-meditation, for the welfare of all, for the upliftment of all, for the dignity of all, for the respect of all, for the solution of all, for the cure of pain, for the call of love, for the nation building and the message of unity. The SP chief also visited many religious institutions in the Maha Kumbh. He offered prayers to the reclining Hanuman ji. He went to the Himalaya Shankaracharya camp and met Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda of Jyotirmath Badrikashram. He also met Satpal Brahmachari ji of Shri Thanaram Ashram, Haridwar. He offered floral tributes to the statue of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav installed in Sector 16 by the Mulayam Singh Yadav Smriti Sansthan.
