Srinagar, July 8 (Reporter) General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army’s Northern Command Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar on Monday reviewed the logistic and security preparedness of Amarnath Yatra.
The review came on a day when the Army said the successful operations in Kulgam district on April 6 & 7 that led to the killing of six banned Hizbul Mujahideen militants, dealt a deadly blow to terror outfits in South Kashmir and dented their nefarious designs to target the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
The 52-day-long Amarnath yatra began on July 29 from the twin routes of Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and Nun Wan Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam district amid unprecedented security set up in place.
The Army Commander Lieutenant General Suchindra Kumar was briefed on security, medical response and infrastructure for the Amarnath yatra during his visit, Army’s Northern Command posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Lt General Kumar appreciated the inter-agency synergy and safety measures for pilgrims.
