Port Louis/New Delhi, Dec 21 (Reporter) Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is visiting Mauritius, called on new Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, during which he underscored the deep and enduring bilateral ties between the two nations.
The Indian High Commission in posts on X, also said that FS Misri called on former PM Pravind Jugnauth. He also called on Deputy PM Paul Raymond Bérenger, President Dharambeer Gokhool, and Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ritish Ramful. He also visited the Apravaasi Ghat and an India-assisted project.
On his meeting with PM Ramgoolam, the Indian HC posted:
“Shri @VikramMisri, Foreign Secretary of India, called on @Ramgoolam_Dr , Prime Minister of Mauritius.
“Underscoring the deep and enduring India-Mauritius ties, discussions focussed on further strengthening the multisectoral bilateral cooperation in order to advance this special and unique partnership anchored in our shared culture, history, kinship and heritage.”
On his meeting with former PM Jugnauth, it posted:
“Foreign Secretary, @VikramMisri met Shri @KumarJugnauth, former Prime Minister and Leader of Mouvement Socialiste Militant Party.
“Discussions covered the special nature of India-Mauritius ties and the people focused nature of the development partnership.”
He called on the Deputy PM Paul Raymond Bérenger. “Discussions focused on further consolidating the truly exceptional India-Mauritius bilateral ties.”
Foreign Secretary Misri called on Dhananjay Ritish Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius.
“During discussions, the entire gamut of India-Mauritius ties, including the robust development partnership, was reviewed, and newer avenues to take forward the relationship were explored.”
He paid a courtesy call on President Dharambeer Gokhool.
“Expressing satisfaction with the robust India-Mauritius partnership, which is deeply rooted in our strong people-to-people ties, discussions focused on advancing bilateral cooperation including in the areas of capacity building, traditional medicine, ICT and fintech,” the Indian HC said.
FS Misri visited the India assisted Area Health Centre at Cap Malheureux in Mauritius - a project that has been completed and is expected to be operational soon. Foreign Secretary expressed confidence that this Area Health Centre will further augment the health infrastructure and its services will benefit inhabitants of the region. He also visited Apravaasi ghat, where the Indian indentured labourers had landed from India.
Misri is on a three-day official visit to Mauritius, in the first high-level engagement between the two sides after formation of a new government under Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam last month...////...
