New Delhi, Feb 13 (Reporter) India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted a fresh spell of rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region from February 17 to 19. “A fresh western disturbance is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region during February 17-19 and isolated rainfall over adjoining plains on February 18 & 19” the IMD said. The MeT department also predicted that thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms at isolated places over east-central India are likely on February 13 and over East India on February 14. Under the influence of the anticyclone over the north Bay of Bengal, Isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms in isolated places very likely over East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand on February 13; and thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim on February 14, the IMD said. “Light to moderate isolated rainfall also very likely over Odisha from February 13 to 16,” it added. Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and East Rajasthan are also expected to witness light isolated rainfall and snowfall on February 13 under the influence of western disturbances, the IMD said. The IMD further predicted that dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in the morning hours in isolated pockets of Odisha on February 14 and 15. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over most parts of the country during the next 5 days, it said. As per IMD, the minimum temperature over most parts of the northern plains was recorded in the range of 7-12 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours.
