Rajahmundry, Nov 4 (Reporter) Four persons were electrocuted and another was critically injured when they were erecting flexi banners at Tadiparru village in Undrajavaram mandal of EG district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
Police said that the villagers were making preparations for the unveiling of the statue of social reformer Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud at the village. Some youths erected a giant flexi banner at the village on the occasion of unveiling of the statue. Five persons came into contact with high tension wire while erected a flexi banner. They died instantly while another person Komati Ananta Rao sustained serious burn injuries and he was admitted to the Area hospital in Tanuku.
The deceased were identified as Bolla Veerraju (26), Pamarti Nagendra (23), Marishetti Manikantha (28) and Kasagani Krishna (20). The Undrajavaram police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH in Tanuku for postmortem. A pall of gloom descended on Tadiparru village with the death of four youths in electrocution.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the death of four persons and injuries to another in an electrocution incident.
In a release here on Monday, the Chief Minister said that it is unfortunate that four persons killed and another suffered serious injuries while erecting a flexi banner. He directed the officials to take steps to provide better treatment to the injured. The Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to the bereaved families and assured of extending required help to the bereaved families.
Expressing grief over the incident, Minister for Tourism Kandula Durgesh said it is sad that four youths electrocuted on the auspicious day of Karthika Somavar. The Tourism Minister assured of extending needed help to the bereaved families and the injured.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha also expressed shock and grief over the death of four youths in an electrocution incident while tying flexi banners at the village for the unveiling of the statue of social reformer Sardar Sarvai Papanna.
Mines and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra also expressed grief over the incident and inquired with the officials about the incident. Meanwhile, villagers told the media veteran Telugu film here Suman had to unveil the statue of social reformer Sardar Sarvai Papanna at the village today...////...
