Fortnight-long VKSA to be launched on May 29 in Tripura

Agartala, May 20 (Reporter) As part of a nationwide programme to reach the farmers, Tripura government has decided to roll out ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ (VKSA) from May 29 to June 12, aiming to boost agricultural productivity and enhance farmers' income. Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said he met with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan via videoconferencing to ensure the programme's success. It has been decided that the Agriculture Ministry institutions, like ICAR, will join hands to reach the doorsteps of the farmers. “The 15-day-long campaign will focus on increasing food grain production, reducing input costs, improving food security, and ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds and fertilizers, where the experts and scientists reach out to the farmers,” Nath said. The campaign is designed to raise awareness about central and state government schemes among farmers to double their income. The Minister highlighted that India has already recorded impressive growth in agricultural output this year, which will be further boosted in next year. To build on this momentum, the ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be implemented in all Gram Panchayats across Tripura.
