New Delhi, July 19 (Reporter) Former Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra was on Friday named as the country's next Ambassador to the United States. The former Foreign Secretary demitted office on July 15, and was succeeded by Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Advisor. It was widely expected that Kwatra will be appointed as the next ambassador to Washington, as the key post has been lying vacant since the retirement of Taranjit Sandhu in January.
