Bareilly (UP), Jan 28 (Reporter) Five members of a family, including a couple and their three children, were charred to death after a house caught fire under mysterious circumstances in Faridpur area of Bareilly district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, a senior police officer said here.
Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that the incident took place when the house of Ajay Gupta, a resident of Farakhpur locality, caught fire. "Ajay Gupta alias Tinkle (38), his wife Anita (36), sons Divyansh (9), Daksh (3) and daughter Divyanka (6) were charred to death in the incident," he said.
He said that when the police reached the spot after getting information it found the room locked from outside due to which suspicion of murder is being raised. "The matter is being investigated by the police," he said.
Police sources said that Ajay Gupta worked as a confectioner and was living in a rented house for the last three years. "It is being said that the family slept in a room on Saturday. "On Sunday when the neighbours saw smoke emitting from the house they informed the police," they said.
Police sources said that District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar along with the SSP reached the spot after the incident. "The police broke the door of the house and found the charred bodies. The items kept in the rooms were gutted and two heaters plugged in the board were found on the spot," they said...////...
