New Delhi, Jan 29 (Reporter) The Supreme Court on Monday asked RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to file a 'clear and simple statement' withdrawing remarks made by him against the Gujarati Community. A Bench comprising Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan granted Yadav a week to file a clear statement withdrawing his defamatory statement against the Gujarati Community. Yadav had in a speech last year said, Gujarati hi thag hai, ho sakta hai (only Gujaratis can be a cheat". After the statement made by the RJD leader Mr Haresh Mehta who filed a criminal defamation suit against him in the District Court of Gujarat. Tejasvi Yadav then approached the Apex Court seeking a transfer of the criminal defamation case filed against him, from the District Court of Gujarat to the court of any other State. Last week, the Apex Court had asked the complainant, Haresh Mehta if the prosecution was any longer necessary since Yadav had withdrawn his remarks about Gujaratis. During the court hearing today, the complainant alleged that the statement made by Yadav to withdraw the remarks against Gujaratis was not clear. The SC then asked the RJD leader , to file a better statement in clear words.
