Srinagar, Dec 27 (Reporter)National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, and described him as a paragon of patriotism and secularism. Farooq extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, especially to DR Singh's wife and daughters. "Dr. Manmohan Singh was a paragon of patriotism and secularism, embodying the virtues of a true leader”, Farooq in a statement said. He said Dr Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by remarkable contributions to India's economic landscape, notably the transformative reforms of 1991 that liberalized our economy and set the foundation for modern India, Farooq also highlighted Dr. Singh's distinguished role on the international stage, particularly his contributions to the United Nations, which enhanced India's stature globally.
