Bengaluru, Sep 21 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa was questioned for two-and-a-half hours by Lokayukta police on Saturday in the controversial land denotification case against him and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. The case pertains to the denotification of 1.1 acres in Gangenahalli, Bengaluru, which Yediyurappa approved on June 5, 2010, during his tenure as Chief Minister. The land was under the General Power of Attorney of Vimala, Kumaraswamy’s mother-in-law, who ultimately benefited from the move. Both Kumaraswamy, a former Chief Minister and Union Minister of Major Industries and Steel, and Vimala, are named in the case. Yediyurappa, who denied acting under any external pressure, defended his decision, stating that the land belonged to farmers. However, accusations against him allege that he went against the advice of the Urban Development Department. The case has seen rise of political tensions, with Ministers urging the Lokayukta to expedite the probe. Kumaraswamy, in response, distanced himself from the allegations, insisting it was Yediyurappa who authorised the denotification, not him.
