Rio De Janeiro, Apr 9 (Reporter) Sao Paulo midfielder Luiz Gustavo has been discharged from hospital after suffering a blood clot in the lungs, the Brazilian Serie A club said. Gustavo was admitted to Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein hospital on Saturday after complaining of chest pain while training earlier in the day. Following imaging tests, the 37-year-old was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, a blockage in the artery that supplies blood to the lungs. "With a stable clinical condition, the player will continue to receive medication with an order to rest and refrain from physical activities for the next 10 days," read a statement on Sao Paulo's official website on Tuesday. "At the end of this period, he will undergo a new medical evaluation at the hospital," it added. Gustavo, who made his professional debut for non-league Ipanema Atletico Clube in 2006, joined Sao Paulo last year after 17 years in Europe and Asia. His career has included spells at Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Marseille and Fenerbahce, among other clubs.
