Srinagar, Nov 4 (Reporter) In a symbol of unity with the Kashmiri Pandits, the Ehsaas Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) organised a relief camp in downtown Srinagar for the Purkhoo fire victims of Jammu for their rehabilitation.
In a devastating fire that broke out at Purkhoo in Gandhi Nagar ,more than 12 residential flats owned by the Kashmiri Pandit families were gutted on October 29 during which all household items were completely damaged.
The Ehsaas Foundation in Srinagar organised relief camps at Bohri Kadal in downtown during which volunteers from every nook and corner surfaced and extended all kind of help for the displaced Kashmiri Pandit fire victims, a statement said.
The volunteers provided food items, blankets and clothing for the fire victims as a human gesture amid the feeling that they (victims) are not alone to lose everything all over again.
The foundation provided all relief items to the fire victims of Purkhoo with a message that they are being watched and cared for and not forgotten by their Kashmiri Muslim brethren.
Volunteers including Zahoor Malik, Faheem Reeshi, Meer Arsalan, Umer, Harris Hameed and Burhan Nazir in a message said, "It has shaken us deeply. Sometimes it feels like we are putting a bandage on a wound that would never stop bleeding; all we could do is give them a respite".
They said "the relief at Purkhoo Camp is not food and groceries, but the strength to face tomorrow. That is what it feels like in a world they claim to have let them down several times".
The relief camp in Srinagar becomes a symbol of unity and resilience in a strife-torn Kashmir that shows amid ashes of hate, compassion remains within...////...
