Shillong, Apr 20 (Reporter) Candlelight processions, baptism of newborns and colourful Easter eggs and buns were the hallmark of the day as Christians in Meghalaya on Sunday joined their brethren the world over in celebrating Easter.
Cathedrals and churches across this Christian-majority state were thronged by people for special mass and other celebratory events.
Easter marks the end of the period of Lent or suffering and it is believed that Jesus Christ was resurrected after his crucifixion on Good Friday.
