EAM holds bilaterals with counterparts from GCC countries

Riyadh/New Delhi, Sep 9 (Reporter) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday held bilateral meetings with several of the GCC Foreign Ministers, including Saudi Arabia’s Faisal bin Farhan, Qatar’s PM and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Omani FM Badr Albusaidi and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani of Bahrain. In posts on X, the EAM said of his bilateral meetings: “Delighted to meet FM @FaisalbinFarhan of Saudi Arabia today in Riyadh. “Took stock of the progress in our bilateral relationship and shared perspectives on global and regional issues. Look forward to welcoming him in India.” On Qatar, he posted: “Began the day with a good meeting with PM & FM of Qatar @MBA_AlThani_ (Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani) “Discussed taking India-Qatar bilateral ties forward. “Appreciated his insights and assessments on regional development.” On Bahrain, he wrote: “Pleased to meet FM Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani of Bahrain. “Appreciate his positive evaluation of our relationship and the contribution of the Indian Community in Bahrain. Agreed on an early meeting of our Joint Commission.” On the meeting with his Omani counterpart, he posted: “A warm meeting with FM @badralbusaidi (Badr Albusaidi) of Oman in Riyadh today. “Focused on further strengthening of our Strategic Partnership.” The meetings took place on the sidelines of the first India-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Riyadh. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Monday is holding separate ministerial meetings with Russia, India, and Brazil on the sidelines of its 161st Ministerial Council. The GCC is a regional, intergovernmental, political, and economic union comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
