Mumbai, Apr 11 (Reporter) E-transit is a good option for the urban transport system, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday, instructing officials to examine the economic aspect and submit a report.
Fadnavis was speaking at a meeting held with representatives of the HESS-AG company at the Sahyadri Guest House regarding the launch of e-transit on a pilot basis in the Pimpri-Chinchwad metropolitan areas .
Saying that the feasibility of the project needs to be examined, Fadnavis said the company should manufacture its products in India, so that the production cost will be reduced and the project cost will also be saved. If the company provides a good city transport system at a low price, such projects can be set up for at least 10 cities in the state.
For this, the company should start manufacturing its e-transit buses in the country. Chief Minister Fadnavis also suggested that a detailed report should be submitted regarding the launch of this project in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that a proposal should be prepared accordingly by considering the financial and other aspects of the currently used e-buses, metro and e-transit. The company should give a good and feasible proposal. Along with metro, another option is currently needed for cities. If it is available through this e-transit facility, it is welcome, he added.
