Doppler Weather Radar to be installed in Wayanad of Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, June 12 (Reporter) A Doppler Weather Radar for monitoring weather conditions of Northern Kerala will be installed by the Central Meteorological Department in Wayanad as per the demand of the Kerala Government. The X-band radar, which can monitor weather over an area of 100 km, will also benefit the neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka states. The radar system for studying the unique characteristics of rain clouds is developed by Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore. Since 2010, Kerala has been demanding the installation of a radar system in Wayanad. An MoU for setting up the system at Pazhassiraja College at Pulpally in Wayanad has been signed in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday...////...
