Developed Agriculture Mission to bring prosperity to farmers: Sinha

Patna, May 29 (Reporter) Initiating the developed agriculture mission, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that it would not only improve greenery in the farm lands but would also add to the prosperity of the farmers across the state. While initiating the mission here on Thursday, Sinha said that farmers can directly talk to the agricultural scientists under this mission to get to know the technical know-how of the scientific way of farming. Sinha said that a block-level Kisan Sankalp Sabha will be organized for the success of the mission, which will not only increase greenery in the fields but also add to the prosperity of the farmers. The government was trying to double the income of the farmers through science and technology, he added. The minister said that to increase the yield of Kharif crops, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the State Agriculture Department have launched the "Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan" which will conclude on June 12. Under this campaign, farmers were being informed about new agricultural techniques, government schemes, and grants. He said that 194 technical teams have been constituted under 44 agriculture science centres to import technical knowledge among the farmers in 4,662 villages. These teams would assess the local agriculture climate scenario, nutritional value of the soil, availability of water, and rain pattern, based on which they would suggest to the farmers for taking up the agriculture activities.
