Delhi Govt imposes ban on sale and use of firecrackers till 1st Jan

New Delhi, Oct 14 (Reporter) In an effort to combat air pollution ahead of the winter season, the Delhi Government on Monday imposed a ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers in the national capital with immediate effect till January 1st. In a directive, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) instructed the Delhi Police to strictly enforce the ban. It also requested that daily reports on compliance be submitted to the DPCC via email at msdpcc@nic.in. Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “The harmful effects of firecrackers on air quality are well known, and with this decision, we aim to take preventive action to ensure that our air remains breathable. The ban also includes strict measures to regulate the sale of firecrackers through online platforms.” “Delhi has faced extreme pollution levels in recent years in winters, and we must take every possible step to safeguard the health of our citizens.
