New Delhi, Apr 29 (Reporter) The Delhi government on Tuesday decided to enact a new law to curb school fee hike. The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, during the day approved the Delhi School Fee Fixation (Transparent and Regulation) Bill, 2025. Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood said that it was a historic decision for Delhi. For the first time, such a decision has been taken for the future of children and the convenience of parents. Now no school will be able to do whatever it wants. Till now, Delhi did not have any such Act to regulate the fees of private schools. Sood said there was no provision against fee hike in the 1973 Act. Criticising the preceding AAP Government, he said it did not take any decision on the vital matter. On the other hand, the future of children is the priority of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He said the bill will soon be passed by the Assembly. Gupta said the Delhi government has taken a historic and bold decision in which all 1677 private schools in Delhi will be given guidelines regarding fees.
