Kanpur, Sep 29 (Reporter) Day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh has been delayed due to a soggy outfield, following a day of frustrating conditions that saw play abandoned on Day 2 without a ball being bowled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the next inspection of the playing conditions is scheduled for 12 PM IST, as umpires have raised concerns about multiple wet patches on the ground. On Day 2, despite a brief window of two hours without rain, the heavy water accumulation on the covers rendered the outfield unplayable. Three super soppers were deployed in a futile attempt to dry the ground, but the persistent wet conditions forced officials to call off play before the scheduled close. The first day of the Test had also been disrupted, with the toss delayed for an hour and bad light further reducing play to just 35 overs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl, aiming to exploit the soft pitch conditions. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj bowled with discipline, though they faced resistance from Bangladesh's openers. Akash Deep proved instrumental, taking two crucial wickets to dismiss both openers. A partnership of over 50 runs between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque briefly stabilized Bangladesh’s innings, but spinner Ravichandran Ashwin managed to dismiss Mominul just before bad light brought an early close to the day's play, leaving Bangladesh at 107 for 3. The forecast for Day 3 is not particularly promising but is expected to show some improvement over the dismal conditions experienced on Saturday. Both teams remain hopeful for better weather to resume play...////...
