Cyclone further weakens as Low Pressure, Interior TN to get rains

Chennai, Dec 3 (Reporter) Met office on Tuesday said yesterday’s well marked low pressure area (remnant of cyclonic storm Fengal over North Interior Tamilnadu has further weakned as a Lowpressure. In an update, it said the system moved west-northwestwards and lay as a low pressure area over North Interior Tamil Nadu adjoining South Interior Karnataka. It moved west-northwestwards and lay as a well marked low pressure area over Coastal Karnataka and adjoining east central Arabian Sea at 0530 hrs of today, and persists over the same region at 0830 hrs. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels. It is likely to move west-northwestwards over eastcentral Arabian Sea during the next two days. Light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Tirupattur districts. On forecast till December 9, it said light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. The forecast for Chennai City and its neighbourhood is that sky would be partly cloudy. Light/Moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas...////...
