Sultanpur, Sep 20 (Reporter) A criminal wanted in connection with the robbery of a bullion trader in Nagar Kotwali area of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) after a brief encounter here on Friday. Police sources said that Ajay alias DM (21) was involved in the robbery of a bullion trader in Thatheri Bazaar on August 28 and a reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced on his arrest. "Apart from four kg silver jewellery, the police have recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested criminal," they said. The sources also said that based on information, the police set up a blockade on Peedhi-Bagiya road in Jaisinghpur area and challenged the suspicious bike riders at around 4:45 am early morning. The criminals tried to escape by opening fire. "In the retaliatory firing, one criminal fell from the bike and was caught. The robber was identified as Ajay alias DM, from whose possession white metal jewellery was recovered. His accomplice managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness," they said. It may be noted that nine people have been arrested so far in connection with the robbery at Bharat Jewelers in Thatheri Bazar, of which one accused Mangesh Yadav has been killed in a police encounter. So far the 100 percent gold has been recovered from the arrested accused while about 25 kg silver has been recovered...////...
