Thiruvananthapurm, May 17 (Reporter) Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan has alleged that CPI(M) leaders are insulting Mahatma Gandhi by opposing the construction of a memorial for him at Malappattam in Kannur. "CPM leaders in Kannur are defaming Gandhi in a way that even shames the Sangh Parivar. CPM’s P.V. Gopinath openly threatened to block a Gandhi memorial at Malappattam. Police must take action against the CPM leader. The memorial will be built," the Opposition leader said in a message. Earlier, Congress and CPI(M) workers clashed with each other over the alleged vandalism of a Mahatma Gandhi statue erected on private property belonging to a Congress worker.
