Mathura (UP), Oct 28 (Reporter) Jyotishpeethadhiswar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has said that heinous crimes like cow slaughter can be curbed only by making laws. Demanding to stop cow slaughter and to give cow the status of 'mother', Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati started the 'Gopratishtha Dhwaj Yatra' from Ayodhya on 22 September, which concluded with the flag hoisting at Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan. He said that 33 crore gods and goddesses reside in the cow. "Therefore, worshipping the cow is worshipping all the gods. Slaughtering of such a cow in India is like a stigma," he said. He said that he started the campaign of public awareness through this yatra from Ayodhya. He has been doing the work of public awareness to stop cow slaughter in many states of the country. While talking to journalists at Sneh Bihari temple Vrindavan on Sunday evening, Shankaracharya said that we and the society like Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann ki Baat, but he will have to understand the pain of the people regarding cow slaughter. "The PM rears cows in his house, but he will have to listen to the voice of the country, which is on the second position in the world in beef export," he said. He said that cow should be declared as the mother of the nation and when cow is everyone's mother then why will brothers be divided among brothers. "That is why we want that cow slaughter should be stopped. The decreasing number of cows in the country is a matter of concern," he said. Shankaracharya first took blessings at Banke Bihari temple in the religious city of Vrindavan and then visited the Lord at the nearby Radha Sneh Bihari temple.
