Hyderabad, June 2 (Reporter) The 12th Telangana State Formation Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday.
TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud unfurled the national flag as the chief guest, with the event organised under the aegis of Seva Dal Chairman Jitender.
The event was attended by senior Congress leaders, including MP Anil Yadav, MLCs Addanki Dayakar and Aamir Ali Khan, former MPs Anjan Kumar Yadav and V. Hanumantha Rao, DCC President Rohin Reddy, Corporation Chairman Nuthi Srikanth, and others.
Extending greetings to the people of Telangana, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress party fulfilled the six-decade-long aspiration for statehood through sacrifice and dedication.
He emphasised that Telangana was born out of the dreams of leaders like Indira Gandhi and the struggles of countless youth.
Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Goud said the state is now progressing on the twin paths of development and welfare.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to social justice, citing steps like the scientific caste census, 42% reservation for BCs, and the push for SC classification.
He pointed out that the Congress government provided 65,000 jobs in a single year, supported five lakh youth under the Rajiv Yuva Vikas scheme, and empowered women through the Mahalaxmi scheme, which offers 200 units of free electricity and a Rs 500 gas subsidy to lakhs of families.
He also noted the government’s efforts for farmers, including a Rs 21,000 crore loan waiver for 25 lakh farmers and a Rs 500 bonus on fine paddy, which helped Telangana become the top rice-producing state with 2.75 lakh metric tonnes.
