New Delhi, Apr 15 (Reporter) The Congress on Tuesday dismissed the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) chargesheet against its party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi as "false and fabricated" claiming it clearly reflects a "spirit of political vengeance".
Notably, the ED filed its prosecution report against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and some other Congress leaders in a local court in the alleged money laundering case related to the National Herald.
Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi through a video message on X said, "The proceedings which are going on regarding National Herald are not new, because when this case started, we had said that this is a very strange case."
He said that the case was initiated without any transfer of property or even a single rupee.
"A Section 8 non-profit company was established to oversee the old properties of National Herald, with Mrs Sonia Gandhi and others associated with it. This company is not permitted to distribute dividends or engage in commercial activities," he said.
He claimed that a "false and fabricated case" has been created as part of this ongoing sequence.
He further alleged that "the filing of the chargesheet is another step in this chain. Thee matter has been addressed through legal means from the very beginning."
Calling it as a "baseless and fabricated case", Singhvi said, "In the end, the court will deliver its clear judgment. It's evident that the case is being driven by political vendetta...////...
