Thiruvananthapuram, May 23 (Reporter) The conditions are likely to become favourable for Monsoon onset over Kerala during next 2 days. The conditions are also likely to become favourable for further advance of southwest Monsoon over some moreparts of South Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area; some parts of Lakshadweep area, Kerala, some parts ofKarnataka & Tamil Nadu; some more parts South & Central Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern statesduring the same period. Yesterday’s low-pressure area over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off south Konkan-Goa coasts lay as a well marked lowpressure area over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off south Konkan coast at 0530 hrs IST of today, May 23 and it persists over the samearea at 0830 hrs IST of today. It is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify further into a depression during next 24 hrs. The troughfrom the cyclonic circulation associated with the well marked low-pressure area over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off south Konkan coast tosouth Chhattisgarh across south Madhya Maharashtra, south Marathwada and north Telangana between 1.5 & 5.8 km above mean sea levelpersists. Another low-pressure area is likely to form over westcentral and adjoining North Bay of Bengal around 27th May 2025, a MeT release said. Heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm in 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall(12cm to 20cm in 24 hours) with extremely heavy rainfall ( > 20cm in 24 hours)is very likely to occuratisolated placesover Kerala from May 24 to 26. Heavy (7-11cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (12-20cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated placesover Kerala on May 23, 27, 28 & 29 and Heavy (7-11cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated placesover Lakshadweep from May 24 to 26.
