Srinagar, Feb 6 (Reporter) The cold intensified as nighttime temperatures plummet in the Kashmir valley, with tourist destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg recording at -11.0°C and -10.5°C, respectively, on Tuesday, officials said.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded below 4.8°C against the normal of -6.2°C, while the ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 3.8°C below the normal of -6.7°C on Tuesday.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -2.4°C against the -0.4°C recorded the previous night. It was 2.0°C below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 7.0 °C, which was 2.2°C below the normal of 9.2°C on the previous day.
Qazigund had a low of -2.0°C against the -1.4°C recorded a day ago, and Kokernag recorded a minimum of -2.4°C against the -3.3°C recorded the previous night.
The minimum temperature plunged at Kupwara to a low of -3.4°C against the -0.9°C recorded the previous night. It was 1.4°C below normal for the frontier Kashmir district of north Kashmir.
