Meerut (UP), Oct 25 (Reporter) A coach of a goods train headed for maintenance derailed in the yard of Meerut City Railway Station on Friday, leading to delays for several trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, Utkal Express and Nauchandi Express.
According to railway officials, the incident took place at around 9:30 AM and the Delhi Control Room was informed immediately. A rail mobile breakdown special van was dispatched from New Delhi to address the situation. By 12:30 PM, the derailed coach was successfully removed from the track, allowing train operations to resume.
The derailment significantly disrupted train services. The Vande Bharat and Utkal Express were halted at Cantt Station, while the Ambala-Delhi Express was stopped at Daurala. The Nauchandi Express departed 1.15 hour behind schedule and the Ambala Express departed an hour late.
A team of officials from Delhi has reached Meerut to investigate the cause of the derailment. By afternoon, train services had largely returned to normal...////...
