Bhubaneswar, Apr 4 (Reporter) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning two major railway projects in Odisha.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) of the Central Government has approved four railway projects across the country, of which two are for Odisha.
The Chief Minister stated that the Prime Minister’s consistent focus on the development of Odisha is evident from the regular approval of key infrastructure projects for the state.
He expressed confidence that, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Odisha will emerge as a growth engine for the nation.
Chief Minister Majhi also thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his support.
The two railway projects approved by the CCEA are the Sambalpur–Jarpada (Talcher, Angul) 3rd and 4th lines, and the Jharsuguda–Sasan (Sambalpur) 3rd and 4th lines.
The Sambalpur–Jarpada project is estimated to cost Rs.3,917 crore, while the Jharsuguda–Sasan project will cost Rs.1,187 crore. Together, these projects amount to Rs.5,104 crore.
These multi-track projects are expected to significantly enhance rail mobility in the districts of Sambalpur, Angul, and Jharsuguda.
The Chief Minister stated that these projects will help ease railway operations and reduce congestion.
