Located about 45 kilometres from Jabalpur, the Vishnu Varaha Temple in Majholi was originally constructed in the 11th century. After being destroyed over time, the temple, built during the Kalachuri period, was reconstructed in the 18th century. It is believed that the idol of Bhagwan Vishnu in his Varaha incarnation, enshrined in the temple sanctum, is the largest and only Varaha idol of its kind worshipped in the world. The Idol was installed in the sanctum sanctorum in the 11th century.
The Vishnu Varaha Temple holds immense religious and mythological significance. Architecturally remarkable, it is also listed among the state-protected monuments.
