The Press Council of India formally started functioning on 16 November 1966. Propounding the importance of this day, it is celebrated every year on 16 November as “Indian Press Day”. In our country, the Press Council of India (Press Council of India) is functioning as a regulator to define and maintain professional standards for print media. It is a statutory body. National Press Day truly symbolizes the presence of a free and responsible press in a democracy. The theme of National Press Day- 2024 is “The Changing Nature of the Press”.
