Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Nov 24 (Reporter) Yuzvendra Chahal has made history by becoming the most expensive Indian spinner ever in the IPL after being sold to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a record Rs 18 crore. The bidding for the leg-spinner was fierce, with teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all vying for his signature. However, it was PBKS that outbid all competition, securing Chahal, who has been in superb form, including his standout performance of 4/9 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy ahead of the auction. The battle for Chahal saw the Rs 10 crore mark breached early, with PBKS and LSG pushing the price higher. In the final moments, PBKS clinched the deal, making Chahal the highest-paid Indian spinner in IPL history. In another major move, KL Rahul was sold to Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 14 crore. The bidding started with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), driving the price up to Rs 10.75 crore. DC then made their move, taking the bid to Rs 14 crore, with CSK briefly entering the fray before backing out. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opted not to use their Right to Match (RTM) card, allowing DC to secure the star wicketkeeper-batsman. England’s explosive batsman Liam Livingstone was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 8.75 crore. Despite a slow start in the bidding, the competition intensified as teams like SRH and CSK joined in, but RCB ultimately secured the deal. Mohammed Siraj, the Indian seamer, was sold to Gujarat Titans (GT) for Rs 12.25 crore. The bidding saw early competition from CSK and RR, but it was GT who sealed the deal. RCB, who had the option to use their RTM, chose not to, and Siraj will join GT for the upcoming IPL season.
