CERT-In issues advisory on IT outage

New Delhi, July 19 (Reporter) Amidst massive IT outage, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, a wing of Ministry of IT, has issued an advisory saying outage of Microsoft Windows has been reported due to Crown strike agent Falcon Sensor and the government is in touch with Microsoft and its associates for any further precaution to be taken. CERT.In serves as the national agency for performing various functions in the area of cyber security in the country as per the provisions of the Information Technology Act. “It has been reported that Windows hosts related to Crowd strike agent “ Falcon Sensor” are facing outages and getting crashed due to recent update received in the product. The concerned windows hosts are experiencing a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) related to Falcon Sensor,” CERT-In said in the advisory issued recently. It said the issues occurred in the latest update of CrowdStrike and the changes have been reverted by the Crowd Strike Team. If hosts are still crashing and unable to stay online to receive the Channel File Changes, few steps need to be taken including i) Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment; ii) Navigate to the C:Windowsystem32DriversCrwodStrike directory; iii) Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it; and iv) Boot the host normally.
