CBI Director's tenure extended by 1 yr

New Delhi, May 7 (Reporter) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday extended the tenure of its Director Praveen Sood by one more year with effect from May 24. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has approved the extension of CBI Director Praveen Sood for one year with effect from May 24, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Training said here. A 1986-batch Indian Police Service officer, Sood's term was to end on May 24 and a meeting was held a few days ago under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to select a new director to replace him. The meeting was attended by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna. It is understood that the meeting failed to agree on the name of the new director and hence the tenure of Sood has been extended...////...
