Washington, May 8 (Reporter) Activists are making efforts to ensure declassification of lists of Nazi war criminals who found refuge in Canada after World War II, Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov told RIA Novosti. "Activists — including concerned citizens, historians, journalists, and non-governmental organizations — are pursuing the publication of the Deschenes list through legal action," Stepanov said. The Deschenes list, established by the Canadian government in 1985, is officially known as the Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals in Canada and seeks to investigate claims that some Nazi war criminals found safe haven in Canada...////...
