Bengaluru, April 11 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday launched a scathing attack on senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, labeling his leadership as a "total failure" and alleging that Congress leaders are reluctant to even mention his name.
Speaking at a press conference here, Yediyurappa highlighted an instance where Gandhi purportedly spread misinformation about Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) shutting down, despite the company receiving substantial work orders and generating significant revenue.
He challenged Rahul Gandhi to apologize for his statements and emphasized the lack of credible leadership and achievements within the Congress party.
"Rahul Gandhi’s leadership is a total failure. Congress leaders are hesitant to take his name. He had carried out propaganda that Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was shutting down.
"HAL has got Rs 84,000 crore worth of work orders. Talks are on for Rs 50,000 crore work orders. In 2023-24, HAL generated revenue of Rs 29,000 crore. Will Rahul Gandhi now apologise? Will Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar get his apologies?" he said.
Yediyurappa accused the Congress of attempting to divert attention from their shortcomings by questioning the central government's initiatives and creating controversies.
Contrasting the leadership styles and achievements between the BJP-led central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Congress-led state government in Karnataka, the former Chief Minister positioned the BJP as the party with a track record of tangible progress and development.
He underscored the central government's achievements in job creation and infrastructure development, citing data regarding the increase in Provident Fund accounts and claiming that 7 crore new jobs had been created in the country since 2014.
Furthermore, Yediyurappa slammed the Congress-led state government in Karnataka for its alleged failure to create jobs and develop essential infrastructure.
"Let Siddaramaiah give details about how many jobs he has created in the 10 months since he came to power. The setting up of industries is confined to the social media accounts of the Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil and Minister for IT/BT Priyank Kharge. The Congress government has made a new record by not creating a single job," he alleged.
