Bombay HC dismisses PIL against withdrawal of MLC nominees by Shinde govt

Mumbai, Jan 9 (Reporter) The Bombay High Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sunil Modi challenging the withdrawal of 12 MLC nominees by the previous Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra. A Division bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Amit Borkar observed that 'the PIL is misconceived and is liable to be dismissed,”. The MLC nominees were recommended by the MVA government. Thereafter the Eknath Shinde-led government came to power and sought to withdraw the nominees. The then Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on September 5, 2022, returned the list of 12 MLC nominees to the Shinde-led government, following which PIL was filed in the High Court...////...
