BJP's DK Aruna alleges massive scam in Kaleswaram project, calls for CBI probe

Hyderabad, Jan 7 (Reporter) BJP National Vice President DK Aruna has labelled the Kaleswaram project as the country's largest scam, calling for a CBI investigation into the alleged corruption. Speaking to the media at the party's state headquarters here on Sunday, Aruna questioned the Congress's silence, considering their previous demand for a CBI inquiry into the Kaleswaram project. She criticised the delay caused by a judicial inquiry, insisting that only a CBI investigation would reveal the truth about Kaleswaram's corruption if the Congress government is sincere. Aruna accused the previous BRS government of intentionally inflating the project cost from approximately Rs 63,000 crore to Rs 1.50 lakh crore under the guise of project redesign. She emphasised that a High Court judge-led investigation, if conducted by the Congress government, would bring out the real facts as a CBI probe would. Highlighting previous allegations of corruption by CM Revanth Reddy against the BRS government, Aruna questioned why the Chief Minister, who had previously called for a CBI investigation, is now silent. She expressed concerns over delays in investigating scandals related to Medigadda and Kaleswaram construction and urged the state government to clarify its stance on corruption in the Kaleswaram project. Aruna pointed out defects in the Kaleswaram project that surfaced after June 2019, including incidents like the cemented walls of the gravity canal collapsing in Bhupalpally district in July 2020 and the submergence of Lakshmi Pumphouse and Annaram Pumphouse in 2022 due to floods in Godavari.
