Dehra, June 30 (Reporter) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday described BJP leaders as "habitual liars" and hit out at them for spreading "rumours" about his government’s stability.
“BJP leader Jairam Thakur kept claiming that a BJP government will be formed in Himachal Pradesh on June 4, but his statement has been proven false,” Sukhu said at a rally in Dehra Assembly constituency ahead of the July 10 by-election.
The Chief Minister also addressed election meetings in favour of Congress candidate and his wife Kamlesh Thakur in Dhar, Bhatehad, Masroor, Dhangar, Bilaspur, Sakri, Lower Sunehat, Sunehat, Dayal, Dhajag and Haar.
In the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Assembly, the ruling Congress has 38 MLAs and the BJP is not going to come to power under any circumstances, Sukhu said, alleging that Thakur and other BJP leaders are "habitual liars".
He said the by-election has been forced upon the people by BJP leaders and Hoshiar Singh, who is contesting on the saffron party's symbol.
The Chief Minister said former MLA Hoshiar Singh should tell the people of Dehra why he resigned from the post of MLA and why he is contesting the by-election to become MLA again.
Sukhu also promised adequate funds for development of roads, electricity and water facilities in Dehra.
