Lucknow, Feb 24 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Monday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has turned Maha Kumbh, a religious event of faith of saints, religious leaders and the public, into a political event.
Addressing workers and leaders from various districts of the state at the party's state headquarters, Akhilesh said that there is a need to develop permanent and basic infrastructure for organising Kumbh. "Therefore, the SP is ready to give whatever kind of advice is required. The central government should hand over the Prayagraj fort to the Uttar Pradesh government. The central and state governments should jointly create a corpus fund of Rs 2 lakh crore for organising Kumbh,"
He said, "In this, the state government should give Rs 1 lakh crore and the central government should give Rs 1 lakh crore. So that permanent infrastructure can be built with Rs 1 lakh crore of the corpus fund and with Rs 1 lakh crore, transport system and facilities should be developed for the poor devotees coming to Kumbh so that such incidents never happen again in Maha Kumbh and such situations do not arise as have happened this time."
The SP chief reiterated that the double-engine government of the BJP is a double blunder. "Now the central and state governments are clashing over the water of Ganga in Sangam. The Central Pollution Control Board and State Pollution Control Board are fighting over their respective reports. Seeing the fight between the agencies of the BJP government, the common people are feeling cheated. They could not even arrange for clean water for the holy bath in Maha Kumbh," he said.
He said that the stampede in Maha Kumbh was the failure of the BJP government. "More than this, the government and the Chief Minister have reached the pinnacle of insensitivity. The government kept hiding the information about the stampede. The correct information about the dead and injured in the stampede was not given. People kept wandering for information about their relatives. A large number of people died in accidents on the way to Maha Kumbh," he said.
Akhilesh said that no one becomes a Yogi by wearing clothes. "A person becomes a Yogi by his behaviour, language, and conduct. A large number of people have not yet been able to take a bath in the Maha Kumbh. Crores of people have yet to take a bath. The government should extend the date of Kumbh which is a historic and mythological event," he said...////...
