Mumbai, Mar 20 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshavardhan Sapkal on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the BJP alliance government, accusing it of plotting to hand over the vast coastal belt from Palghar to Sindhudurg to industrialist Gautam Adani. Talking to reporters in neighbouring Palghar district, he alleged that after the sale of Dharavi and other key plots in Mumbai as well as the Navi Mumbai airport to its favourite industrialist Adani, the government now wants to hand over the vast coastal belt from Palghar to Sindhudurg to him. Sapkal stated that despite opposition from farmers and without necessity, the BJP government is pushing for the Nagpur-to-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway. Through jetties, a direct transport corridor from the coastline to Central India is being created, essentially laying out a red carpet for Adani and another industrialist Mukesh Ambani. This route is designed to facilitate the trade of Goa’s coal and minerals for these two industrialists and to allow them to exploit the abundant minerals found in Konkan, he alleged. The united people of Konkan are being deliberately divided, and inflammatory statements by ministers from Sindhudurg are being used to create discord, the Congress state chief claimed. The same tactics are now being employed in Palghar, where local lands are being handed over to industrialists, he alleged.
