Bengaluru, Sep 16 (Reporter) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the violent communal clashes erupted during a Ganesh Idol Immersion in Nagamangala in Mandya district of Karnataka on September 11.
The BJP claimed that the violence was a premeditated assault involving banned extremist groups like the Popular Front of India (PFI).
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka didn't mince words as he lashed out at the authorities. “This wasn’t a spontaneous outburst. The purchase of 150 masks and the deliberate destruction of CCTVs before the riots clearly point to a calculated, well-organised attack,” he declared, suggesting local law enforcement may be operating under pressure from shadowy and radical forces.
By the next day, chaos reigned. Shops were ransacked, vehicles torched, and Mandya teetered on the edge of full-scale communal riots. Over 50 arrests have been made, but questions hang heavy over the impartiality of the investigation.
The BJP leader intensified those concerns by sharing a list of 72 suspects on social media, highlighting the Hindu names of the first 23 accused and raising alarm about possible manipulation by banned outfits.
“The local police are in over their heads,” Ashoka warned, demanding that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara transfer the case to the NIA...////...
