Srinagar, Feb 20 (Reporter) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday demanded a clarification from the government after the son of J&K Congress president Tariq Karra attended an official meeting in Srinagar reportedly on his father's behalf.
Waleed Karra, son of J&K Congress president who is also an MLA, was seen seated alongside top bureaucrats and legislators at Srinagar's Banquet Hall recently during an official meeting to review development projects and government schemes in Srinagar. The meeting was chaired by J&K minister for Health and Education Sakeena Itoo.
BJP's J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur strongly criticized the presence of Waleed at a review meeting, calling it a "blatant example of political nepotism" and a "gross violation of democratic norms."
In a statement, Thakur questioned how an unelected individual was allowed to participate in an official meeting meant for elected representatives and senior bureaucrats.
"How was Waleed Karra permitted to sit in a high-level review meeting? Who authorized his presence? Why did no one object to this clear breach of protocol?" he asked.
The BJP leader accused certain politicians in Jammu and Kashmir of treating governance as their "family fiefdom," undermining transparency and accountability.
He demanded an immediate clarification from the government and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take strict action.
"The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a transparent and accountable administration, not dynastic rule by proxy," Thakur asserted, warning that such incidents erode public trust and make a mockery of governance...////...
