BJD to attend JAC meeting on delimitation convened by Stalin

Bhubaneswar, Mar 21 (Reporter) Former BJD MP Amar Patnaik and former Minister Sanjay Dasburma will attend the Joint Action Committee meeting on delimitation, convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin. Both Patnaik and Dasburma will represent the BJD at the meeting. BJD President Naveen Patnaik has nominated them to attend the meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Chennai on March 22. On March 11, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran and Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T.R.B. Raaja met Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas and requested him to participate in the meeting convened by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin regarding the delimitation and electoral constituency reorganization issue. Maran and Raaja, who discussed the delimitation issue with Naveen Patnaik, extended an official invitation to the BJD supremo to attend the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting against the Centre’s proposal to redraw constituencies based on population. Later, Maran told waiting journalists that Naveen Patnaik had assured his participation in the meeting. He stated that as many as seven states, including Odisha, would be affected by the delimitation process, which would reduce their Lok Sabha seats while increasing the share of northern states. When contacted, BJD Vice President Debi Prasad Mishra had then stated that the party was likely to meet soon to discuss and deliberate on the impact of delimitation on Odisha. A final decision would be taken only after thorough discussions on the issue. A press release issued by the President of the Biju Janata Dal on Friday stated that Naveen Patnaik had nominated former MP Dr. Amar Patnaik and former Minister Sanjay Dasburma to attend the Joint Action Committee meeting on delimitation as representatives of the BJD...////...
