London, Aug 11 (Reporter) British evolutionary biologist, author of multiple books and scientific papers Richard Dawkins said that his Facebook account had been deleted after a post saying that boxers who are genetic men should not compete with women.
Algerian Imane Khelif (weight category up to 66 kg) and Lin Yu Ting (up to 57 kg) from Taiwan, who previously failed gender test, became Olympic champions at the 2024 Games in Paris.
"My entire Facebook account has been deleted, seemingly (no reason given) because I tweeted that genetically male boxers such as Imane Khalif (XY undisputed) should not fight women in Olympics. Of course my opinion is open to civilised argument. But outright censorship?" Dawkins said on X.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the participation of Khelif and Lin Yu Ting in the women's tournament, despite the fact that at the 2023 World Championships they failed a gender test that showed elevated testosterone levels in their bodies.
